Almost universally regarded as the most important Michael Jordan rookie card ever produced, MJ’s 1986-87 Fleer rookie card was the focal point of a paradigm shift that occurred in the sports card industry in the late 1980’s. With his popularity soaring on a global basis in the mid-to-late 1980’s, Michael Jordan almost singlehandedly forced trading card collectors to shift their spending dollars away from baseball and into basketball cards. The tipping point was reached when the entire trading trading card industry blossomed into a multi-sport category. Michael Jordan’s 1986-87 Fleer rookie card simultaneously skyrocketed in value and historical prominence. Even after twenty plus years of time, MJ’s Fleer rookie card remains a cherished icon and centerpiece for many trading collections. With the original image lost in time, Upper Deck commissioned famed sports artist Chuck Gillies to hand paint the 1986-87 Fleer rookie card art. His art was then used to produce the Upper Deck Authenticated product “Fleer Blow Up”. The “Fleer Blow Up” is 12.5”x17.5” and is almost identical to the original photo. If you ever wanted your Fleer rookie signed, this is your opportunity to own the original art print. Michael has signed this original hand painted 12.5”x17.5” art by Chuck Gillies in silver paint. Jordan’s gold autograph is guarnateed authentic by virtue of Upper Deck Authenticated’s five-step process.
