After winning the NHL MVP as well as the Art Ross Trophy, McDavid started the next season with an impressive home opener. He completed a hat trick in a 3-0 win against the Calgary Flames on 10/4/17. The second goal of the evening was a thing of beauty after McDavid showed off his speed by blowing by the Flames' defenders after taking control of a loose puck in the neutral zone.
