When he began his NBA career in 1986 following an All-America stint at Georgia Tech, Mark Price didn’t necessarily set out to become the league’s top free throw shooter. He had been a consistent shooter in college but getting into the 90 percent range with the high pressure of the NBA and its tough road environments was a challenge on another level. He shot a more than respectable 83.3 percent his rookie season, but that would end up being the lowest mark of his 12-year career. He shot higher than 90 percent seven times in his career, including a career-best 94.8 mark in 1992-93 (he shot 100 percent in ’95-96 but that was in only 10 attempts). That ’92-93 effort came a year after shooting 94.7 from the charity stripe. He finished his career with a 90.39 mark, which still remains second behind Steve Nash on the NBA’s all-time list. He has inscribed that mark on this photo from a home game against Chicago. In this image, Price is shooting a free throw against the Bulls at Gund Arena in 1994. Price has signed and inscribed “90.39% 2nd All Time” on this limited edition (50) Free Throw 16” x 20” image in silver paint pen. His signature is deemed authentic by virtue of Upper Deck Authenticated’s Five Step Process.
