When people think about Denver, Colorado, one of the first things that comes to mind is the Rocky Mountains and elevation. Sitting at 5,280 feet above sea level, a picturesque setting of the Rockies surrounds Denver and its neighboring cities. While residents have a sense of pride in where they live, they also have a big sense of pride in their sports teams. In recent years, the Denver Nuggets have especially given the city something to rally around, with the team making six consecutive trips to the playoffs as of the 2023-24 season. Aaron Gordon has been a big part of these playoff runs after coming to Denver in a trade in 2021. The Nuggets reached peak elevation in the 2022-23 season, where Gordon’s 16.3 points and 6.6 rebounds per game, contributing to Denver securing the number one seed in the Western Conference. They would then go on a dominant run in the playoffs, winning the first NBA Finals in franchise history. Gordon’s 14 points per game in the Finals, including 27 points in Game Four, helped propel the Nuggets past the Miami Heat in five games.
