The 2023-24 NBA season featured the very first edition of the NBA’s in-season tournament, the NBA Cup. The tournament consisted of all 30 teams divided into three groups, after a round of group play it then advanced to a single elimination tournament of the remaining teams. The Lakers would win all 4 games of their group play to advance to the knockout stage where they would then win the next three games including beating the Pacers 123-109 in the championship game to win the inaugural NBA Cup. Anthony Davis would put on a show during the tournament averaging 23.3 points per game, 14.6 rebounds per game, and 2.9 blocks per game. Davis would save his best for last with personal tournament bests of points (41), rebounds (20), and assists (5) in the tournament championship game.
