Details
The 1976 Canada Cup was Bobby Orr’s only appearance on the international stage and while he battled consistent knee ailments, he would lead Canada to gold and win tournament MVP. In typical Orr fashion, he was described by his teammate Bobby Clarke as “hardly being able to walk in the morning and afternoon of game days, and then, at night, he would be the best player on one of the greatest teams ever assembled”. His other teammate Darryl Sittler would state “Bobby Orr was better on one leg, than anybody else on two”. While Orr was near the end of his playing career with his body breaking down when he decided to play in the Canada Cup, he did not want to miss out on his last and only chance to represent his country. Whenever Orr skated onto the ice, he gave it everything he had, and it almost always culminated in MVP caliber results.
This image is autographed by Bobby Orr. His signature was witnessed by an Upper Deck representative as part of UDA’s 5-step authentication process.
