“Go Tigers Go” is the main slogan around the University of Memphis campus.  These words can be heard anytime you hear the universities’ fight song at sporting events.  For Emoni Bates, the words “Go Tigers go, go on to victory, be a winner through and through” are more than just words, they are a commitment.  Bates had many offers for college going back to the 8th grade including DePaul, Michigan State, Michigan, Oregon, and Duke as well as considering the NBA G league, he chose Memphis and the opportunity to play for Penny Hardaway.  Averaging 28.5 points per game and 10.2 rebounds per game his freshman year of high school, 32.3 points per game and 9 rebounds per game his sophomore season, and 23 points per game and 5.8 rebounds per game his junior year, Bates has been compared by some to be possibly the best high school prospect since LeBron James.
