With the 20th overall pick of the 2021 NBA Draft, the Atlanta Hawks selected forward Jalen Johnson out of Duke University. The Wisconsin native has always shown promise on both sides of the ball, mainly with his scoring ability and his athleticism that has made him a great rebounder. A lot of this promise really started to come together in the 2023-24 season, when Johnson experienced a breakout year with 16 points, 8.7 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.2 steals per game, all career highs. The 22-year-old forward had his best game of the year, and of his career to that date, on April 3, 2024 against the Detroit Pistons. His 28 points were a career high, but also with 14 rebounds and 11 assists Johnson recorded his first career triple-double in a Hawks victory. This game showed a glimpse of what Johnson can do on both sides of the ball and was just one part of a season that showed the player Jalen Johnson is.
