Before the ABA merged with the NBA in 1976, it featured some of the world's most dynamic basketball players, including 6-foot-7 UMass guard-forward Julius Erving. He started his ABA career with the Virginia Squires before joining the New York Nets in 1973. He spent three seasons with the Nets before the merger.
