Despite getting blown out in Game 1, the Lakers outlasted the Celtics in six games, defeating their rival in the Finals for the first time in franchise history. Wearing these away jerseys, the Lakers became the first team to ever clinch the NBA Finals on the Celtics’ court. With 18.3 points, 14 assists, and 6.8 rebounds per game, including two triple-doubles and four double-doubles, Johnson won his third career championship. Both Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar considered this Finals win the highlight of their storied careers.
