Malachi Nelson was born to play football at the quarterback position. Growing up in Orange County in California, people in the sport knew he was special from a young age as he started receiving scholarship offers from college football teams in just the eighth grade. Nelson went onto star at Los Alamitos High School as he gained more national attention. He would win the California Gatorade Football Player of the Year award in both his sophomore and senior seasons, leading him to be recognized as the number one overall recruit of the 2023 class by ESPN. Nelson signed with the nearby USC Trojans, where in his redshirt freshman year he learned under head coach and quarterback whisperer Lincoln Riley and the reigning Heisman Trophy winner Caleb Williams. The former five-star recruit would then transfer to Boise State University, where he saw action for a team that received a first round bye in the College Football Playoff. Nelson has since transferred to play for the UTEP Miners as he looks to star there on his way to achieve his dream of playing in the NFL.
