MJF shined as the World Champion during his fifth year in AEW. In 2023, MJF had a 19-5-1 record. While MJF dominated the ring himself he also had a great run with tag team partner Adam Cole. They won a tag team tournament to earn a shot at the World Tag Team Championship. MJF and Adam Cole faced FTR in a thrilling match that ultimately finished in an FTR victory. However, that loss did not take back from his magnificent year as he held his World Champion belt for 406 days.
