With his recent success MJF has become one of wrestling’s most popular and successful wrestlers today. MJF defeated Jon Moxley on November 19,2022 at the annual AEW Full Gear PPV event in Newark, NJ to become the AEW World Champion and claim his first ever title with AEW. In the ring MJF will often refer to himself as “The Salt of the Earth” (also referencing one of his signature moves) and is quick to remind his opponents of his superiority with his oft used promo “I’m better than you… and you know it!” While many fans see MJF as a heel because of this he has gained the popularity and hearts of wrestling fans quickly. His work outside of the ring has also made him one of AEW’s most liked wrestlers. On April 3rd, 2023 MJF received the key to his hometown of Oyster Bay, New York for his charitable endeavors, the town proclaimed the day “Maxwell Jacob Friedman Day” in his honor.
