When the Denver Nuggets traded for Peyton Watson on draft night they envisioned Watson as a developmental prospect that would need some time to progress in the NBA. While Peyton Watson spent a lot of his first season in the NBA’s G League he has continually progressed every season with the Nuggets and has turned into one of Denver’s most promising young stars heading into the 2024-25 season. In Watson’s first season with the Nuggets he would average 3.3 points per game,1.6 rebounds per game, and .1 steals per game in 23 games, eventually making the team’s playoff roster and winning an NBA title with the Nuggets. In his second season Watson improved dramatically averaging 6.7 points per game, 3.2 rebounds per game, and .5 steals per game, playing in 80 of the teams’ 82 games. Through 25 games of the 2024-25 season Watson is off to the best start of his career averaging 9 points per game, 3.3 rebounds per game, and .8 steals per game, all career bests for him currently.
