Drafted in the first round of the 2022 NBA Draft by the Oklahoma City Thunder (traded to the Denver Nuggets on draft night) Peyton Watson is one of the most noticed young players on the Nuggets today. While Watson is still working to earn a starting role on the Nuggets he and the team have acknowledged that it would take some time. The 21-year-old small forward spent time between the Nuggets and their g-league affiliate the Grand Rapids Gold during the 2022-2023 season but made the postseason roster and won the 2023 NBA Finals with the team last year. Prior to the 2023-2024 season Watson was named by CBS Sports as Denver’s top breakout candidate for the 2023-2024 season. Already in the new season he is making an impact scoring a season high 17 points in a 128-95 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder on October 29, 2023.
