Details
The 2023-24 season was Peyton Watson’s brightest in the NBA yet, a breakout season in which he established himself as one of the game’s premier defenders. In 80 games played during the season Watson would block 88 total shots, the most in a season by an NBA player with five or fewer starts since Nerlens Noel in 2018-19 (96). Watson also became the first player in NBA history to have at least 80 total blocks, 40 total steals, and 40 total made threes while averaging 20 or fewer minutes per game. Watson’s defense wasn’t all that was notable during the 23-24 season. In Denver’s third regular season game of the season Watson would score 17 points off of the bench. Later on, from December 14th to December 20th, Watson would put together a four-game streak of double-digit points. As Watson looks forward to the 2024-25 season it’s clear that his performance is going to demand more playing time.
