Details

The number of NHL accomplishments for Gordie Howe is too large to list. Among the most amazing ones are 801 goals, 1,767 games played, 1,850 points, four Stanley Cup titles and six Hart Memorial trophies. But his biggest accomplishment on the ice was the indelible mark he left on the great sport of hockey. A trailblazer in so many ways, he set the standard for physical forwards who could do it all on the ice. As tough as he was talented, Howe skated into his 50s as the only player in history to have competed in the NHL in five different decades. He was elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1972 and Canada's Sports Hall of Fame in '75. This piece was painted from the original Goodwin Champions card of Howe that featured him in a black suit and tie. Known the world over as Mr. Hockey, Howe has inscribed that moniker underneath his signature. He has also written 'HOF 1972' to give this piece a unique double-inscription. It measures 19 1/8" x 15 1/8" unstretched. When stretched, the art portion measures 12" x 10". Howe has signed and inscribed this limited edition (1) Goodwin Portrait Original Art in silver paint pen. His signature and inscription are deemed authentic by virtue of Upper Deck Authenticated's Five Step Process.
