When the Memphis Grizzlies unveiled their City Edition uniforms for the 2022-23 season, they emphasized pride for Memphis music, sports, and the city. The hatchet-shaped wordmark and chrome-outlined diamond look represent Memphis’ iconic hip-hop scene and are inspired by album art. The uniform panel pays tribute to some Grizzlies’ looks from the past. The “M-Bridge” and “For the M” details are there to show the city the team plays for every game. In the season finale, Ziaire Williams had the game of his career while wearing this uniform. With help from a season-high-tying three 3-pointers, the young forward scored a career-high 24 points to go with a career-high nine assists. Williams displayed the grit and hustle that the uniforms and this special edition ball portray as a way to honor the city of Memphis.
