With the NBA’s current uniform program, the Statement uniforms give teams a chance to sport a unique and alternate look that strays away from their classic jerseys. The Memphis Grizzlies drew inspiration from different sources to put together this classic look. The Beale Street blue, named after the street the team plays on, is on full display on this clean edition of the team’s long-time alternates. This jersey pays tribute to past Grizzlies’ jerseys with the wordmark having a similar font to 2000-01 and the asymmetric side panel having a similar feel to the 2020-21 City Edition. The “MEM”, for the city’s airport code, is spelled out in a font meant to look like shipping containers that Memphis is known for transporting. Grizzlies forward Ziaire Williams sure made a statement in these uniforms. In limited action, four out of his seven double-digit games came while wearing the Statement uniforms. This is just a glimpse of what Williams can do, as he has the talent to become a big piece for Memphis for many years to come.
