Michael Jordan played basketball at North Carolina for three years. As a freshman Jordan scored the game-winning shot with 17 seconds remaining in the 1982 NCAA championship game. Jordan was named National Player of the Year in 1984. During his time at UNC, the 6-foot-6 shooting guard averaged 17.7 points, 5 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.7 steals a game. Michael Jordan's number 23 has been retired by the Tar Heels.
