It was quite an honor when Tiger Woods was named captain of the United States team in the 2019 Presidents Cup. Things got interesting when it came time to select the captain’s pick shortly before the tournament began in December following the regular PGA Tour season. Woods selected himself, which shocked nobody following the outstanding season he had overall combined with the extremely high quality of golf he was playing at the time. It proved to be a great choice as Woods went 3-0 in the tournament as playing captain for a victorious U.S. team. The Americans trailed the entire weekend before the final day singles matches. Behind Woods’ leadership and outstanding play, the U.S. finished the comeback win, 16-14.
