Details
The Number 1 overall pick in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft, Alexis Lafrenière went the first six games of his NHL career without a point. Finally, on January 28, 2021, Lafrenière got his first point and goal in the most dramatic way possible: a game winning goal in overtime to give the Rangers a 3-2 road victory over the Buffalo Sabres. While his family could not be in attendance for the game (the game was played in an empty arena due to covid restrictions), Lafrenière called the moment “really special”, further stating “I’ll never forget this moment”. The goal came with just over two minutes remaining in overtime when a loose puck at center ice was retrieved by fellow Ranger Colin Blackwell who in a two-on-one breakaway found Lafrenière for the game winner.
This image is autographed by Alexis Lafrenière. Lafrenière’s signature was witnessed by an Upper Deck Authenticated representative as part of UDA’s 5-step authentication process.
