When he was asked to put on a Team Canada jersey and represent his country at the 2022 Hlinka Gretzky Cup Brayden Yager knew that it would be different than playing for his WHL team the Moose Jaw Warriors. Add to the fact that Yager was named an Assistant Captain and he realized that a bigger set of responsibilities would be hoisted upon him, having not only to represent his country but try to lead his country to gold. Yager performed seamlessly and without error in the tournament notching 5 goals and 4 assists, Canada outscored their opponents 34-3 in five games in route to a gold medal. Yager’s impressive performance in his first international showing boosted his profile as he would be selected in the first round of the 2023 NHL Entry Draft by the Pittsburgh Penguins.
