Details
Eric Lindros was born to play hockey and from an early age it was known he would be the next great thing. The London, Ontario natice became a coveted player while playing minor hockey and pee-wee tournaments, nicknamed by many “The Next One” due to his ability to score and play physical against anyone. In the 1989 OHL Draft, Lindros was selected first overall, and he did not disappoint. The center led the Oshawa Generals to win both the OHL and CHL championships in his first season, and then followed that campaign up with an MVP award while leading the OHL in scoring the next year. In 1991 Lindros once again became the number one overall pick in a draft, this time in the NHL. He was a star right from the beginning for the Philadelphia Flyers, with whom he became captain in just his third season while on the way to winning the Hart Memorial Trophy as the league’s MVP. Lindros put together a great career that led him to be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2016 and he had his number 88 retired by the Flyers.
