Matthew Savoie is a big name to keep an eye on now for the future. In the season where he turned 18, the Alberta native was a force at center for the Winnipeg Ice in 2021-22. Due to his fast-pace attack style of play, he had 90 points (including 55 assists) on the season. Finishing third in the WHL with a +/- of 54, Savoie helped lead the Ice to the top of the standings as the regular season champions. He didn’t stop there, as his 12 points (6 goals and 6 assists) in 10 playoff games helped lead the Ice to the Eastern Conference Finals. This performance helped earn Savoie a top 10 NHL Draft selection, as the Buffalo Sabres selected him #9 overall in 2022.
