Details
On December 6, 1995, the Montreal Canadiens would trade Patrick Roy and team captain Mike Keane to the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for three players. It is to this day the most famous trade in Canadiens history and in the eyes of some hockey experts one of the worst trades in NHL history for the Canadiens. Roy made an instant impact with his new team helping the Avalanche to a Stanley Cup Title in his first season with them. Roy would allow only 4 goals throughout the whole Stanley Cup Finals, a mind boggling .974 save percentage. Roy’s performance in the 2003 Stanley Cup Finals was almost just as impressive as he would allow only 11 goals on 178 shots, good for a .938 save percentage, in helping the Avalanche to a Stanley Cup Title in 7 games. Roy would finish his impressive career just two years later, his number was retired by the Avalanche in a pregame ceremony on October 28, 2003.
This Patrick Roy 2x Stanley Cup Champion replica trophy is autographed by Patrick Roy. Roy’s signature was witnessed by an Upper Deck representative as part of UDA’s 5-step authentication process.
