Details
On October 8, 2011, opening night of the 2011-2012 season, the Colorado Avalanche retired the jersey number of Peter Forsberg. With a video tribute and a standing ovation from the home crowd Forsberg called the night “unbelievable”, saying “I will forever remember this”. Avalanche and NHL fans alike will always remember Forsberg’s career. Known for his rough physical play, Forsberg brought home two Stanley Cups to Colorado, most notably in the franchise’s first season in Colorado in 1996 where he would score 116 regular season points and 21 more playoff points. Forsberg’s 21 was just the 4th number to be retired in Avalanche history, joining Joe Sakic, Patrick Roy, and Ray Borque (Adam Foote would later be retired in 2013 and Milan Hejduk in 2018).
This image is autographed by Peter Forsberg. Forsberg’s signature was witnessed by an Upper Deck representative as part of UDA’s 5-step authentication process.
