Details
The 2002-2003 season was one of Peter Forsberg’s best of his career. As the season progressed Forsberg would center what would be known as the highly productive “AMP Line” consisting of Alex Tanguay, Milan Hejduk, and Peter Forsberg. Forsberg would tally a total of 106 points in helping lead the Avalanche to their 9th consecutive division title. On January 1, 2003, Forsberg would put up six points in a 7-3 road win over the Nashville Predators setting a new scoring record at Bridgestone Arena. On April 6th, 2003, the final day of the regular season, Forsberg would tally three points in a 5-2 Avalanche victory over the St. Louis Blues, the three points were just enough for Forsberg to beat out Markus Naslund for the NHL scoring title 106-104. Forsberg’s career season earned him the Art Ross Trophy for league leader in points and the Hart Memorial Trophy for league MVP.
