Details
Initially drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers as the sixth overall pick in the 1991 NHL Entry Draft Peter Forsberg was traded to the Quebec Nordiques (soon to be the Colorado Avalanche) in June of 1992 in a package deal that involved sending Eric Lindros to the Flyers. The trade has become one of the most talked about trades in NHL history. Forsberg would win 2 Stanley Cups with the Avalanche while playing parts of 11 seasons with them. Forsberg’s Hall of Fame career is not limited to just the NHL though, on the international stage Forsberg helped Team Sweden to the 1994 & 2006 Gold Medal in the Winter Olympics as well as helping Team Sweden to the Gold Medal in the 1992 and 1998 World Championships. Many may debate which was more significant, Forsberg’s international accomplishments or his NHL accomplishments, what cannot be debated is that Peter Forsberg was a Hall of Famer whenever he stepped on the ice.
