In 2011, the Los Angeles Kings made the switch to their iconic silver and black jerseys. With these new jerseys, they went on to win two Stanley Cups in 2012 and 2014. In the 2020 NHL Draft, the Kings would use the second overall pick to select Sudbury Wolves superstar Quinton Byfield. He elected to wear the number 55 because his childhood role model, Sergei Gonchar, wore that number throughout his career. Byfield is the sixth player of the Kings to wear that number. The LA Kings have seven retired jersey numbers hanging from the rafters of Crypto.com Arena.
