Details
In just his 5th season in the NHL Wayne Gretzky put up a mind-blowing 205 points en route to his 5th straight Hart Trophy, 4th straight Art Ross Trophy, and 3rd straight Ted Lindsay Award. Already having taken the NHL by storm with his un-earthly personal stats, Gretzky finally earned his 1st Stanley Cup title in 1984. The Oilers were fairly new to the NHL, the franchise in its 5th season in the NHL had been defeated by the New York Islanders in the Stanley Cup Finals the year before but in 1983-84 had another year of experience under its belt with stars Wayne Gretzky, Paul Coffey, Glenn Anderson, Mark Messier, Jari Kurri, and goalie Grant Fuhr leading the way. There was just too much talent not to win as the Oilers would finish first in the Smythe Division with 119 points and cruise in the playoffs sweeping 2 of their 4 series and beating the Islanders 4-1 in the Stanley Cup Finals. Gretzky would lead the postseason with 35 points.
This image is autographed by Wayne Gretzky. Gretzky’s signature was witnessed by an Upper Deck representative as part of UDA’s 5-step authentication process. This item is limited to 84.
