For “The Great One”, complacency was never an option as he continued on his dominant path even after setting the expectations through the roof during his first nine years on the Oilers in which he rattled off nine Hart Memorial Trophies and four Stanley Cup championships. While skating with his new team, the Los Angeles Kings, Gretzky did not miss a beat and ended up winning three more Art Ross Trophies, awarded to the NHL scoring champion. With this remarkable run, Gretzky silenced all naysayers and rode off into the sunset while finishing up his last four years with a short stint in Dallas and the last three spent with the New York Rangers.
