Details
The Canada Cup was first created as a worldwide tournament where the best hockey players in the world would represent their countries to determine a true world champion. The tournament was played five separate instances with its first competition held in 1976 and its final contest held in 1991. While Canada would win 4 out of the 5 tournaments it was the 1991 team that was arguably it’s best team. With Forwards Wayne Gretzky and Eric Lindros playing together the 1991 Team Canada team became the only team to ever go undefeated in the tournament going 6-0-2 in its 8 games. Gretzky would lead the tournament in scoring with 12 points while Lindros, still a teenager at the time, ended up with 5 points while also showcasing his tough play by knocking two opposing players out of the tournament on hard hits.
This image is autographed by Wayne Gretzky and Eric Lindros. Their signatures were witnessed by an Upper Deck representative as part of UDA’s 5-step authentication process. This item is limited to 50.
