In 2023, Viktor Hovland made history when winning the Memorial Tournament. Hovland finished seven under par but so did Denny McCarthy, so he found himself in a playoff for the championship. Hovland was sure to shine in the playoff as he made a two-putt par from 58 feet out to secure his championship. This was Hovland’s first PGA tournament victory of the 2023 season and it was a big one. Hovland was due for a championship as he went into the tournament as the seventh-ranked player in the world. He had 24 straight cuts made along with top-10 finishes in the last three majors. This was his first-ever time winning the Memorial Tournament and he did it in memorable fashion.
