At just 25 years old Viktor Hovland has already positioned himself as one of the best golfers in the world. Going into the 2023 Memorial Tournament in Dublin, Ohio, Hovland had won three total PGA Tournaments, all of those victories occurring outside of the United States. At the Memorial, Hovland would finish with scores of 71-71-69-70, shooting 7 under par for the tournament including a clutch birdie on the 17th hole to force a playoff with Danny McCarthy. During the one-hole playoff Hovland would outlast McCarthy by one shot clinching the victory with a 7-foot putt. The exciting playoff win was not only Hovland’s first PGA Tour victory in the United States but also propelled him to a world ranking of #5 (as of June 12, 2023).
