In 2023, Viktor Hovland had a historical year on Tour. After winning the Memorial Tournament, he was dialed in for the rest of the season. Hovland had one of the most impressive tournament wins at the end of the year which was the Tour Championship. He shined in the FedEx Cup Playoffs as he won both the BMW Championship and Tour Championship. Hovland entered the Tour Championship second in the standings and started eight under par. Hovland did not look back as he played some of the best golf of his life. He ended up defeating Xander Schauffele by five shots to secure his first Tour Championship.
