Details

Born in Quebec City, Canada, Patrick Roy was drafted in the third round of the 1984 NHL Entry Draft by the Montreal Canadiens. Roy initially started the season with the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League team the Granby Bisons while making his Canadians debut later in the season for one period, where he earned a win. Roy started playing regularly for the Canadians in the 1985-86 season when he earned the starting job in January after serving as an injury replacement. Roy was an instant success as a regular starter helping lead the Canadiens to a Stanley Cup title. Roy became the youngest ever Conn Smythe Trophy winner winning the award at age 20. Patrick Roy would soon earn the nickname “Saint Patrick” after this and would play for the Canadiens all the way up until 1995. Roy would win another Stanley Cup title and Conn Smythe Trophy in 1993 while also winning the Vezina Trophy for best goaltender in 1989, 1990, and 1992.

This acrylic Montreal Canadiens logo hockey puck is autographed by Patrick Roy. Roy’s signature was witnessed by an Upper Deck representative as part of UDA’s 5-step authentication process.
