Born in Quebec, Canada, Patrick Roy was drafted by the Montreal Canadiens as the 51st overall pick in the 1984 NHL Entry Draft. While Roy grew up a fan of the rival Quebec Nordiques the city of Montreal grew on him quickly. Roy burst onto the scene in his first full season in the NHL playing 47 games during the season and winning the starting job for the playoffs where he would lead his team to an unexpected Stanley Cup title while also winning the Conn Smythe Trophy and making the NHL All-Rookie Team. 7 years later Roy would do it again leading a 1993 Canadiens team that did not have a player that finished in the top 20 regular-season scoring to the Stanley Cup Championship, an incredible feat that earned him his second Conn Smythe Trophy.
