Details
Arguably the most talked about, controversial trade in the history of hockey came on August 9, 1988 when the Edmonton Oilers traded Wayne Gretzky and two other players to the Los Angeles Kings for 2 players, 3 draft picks, and cash. Gretzky would score on his first shot on goal in his first regular season game with the Kings and would win the Hart Trophy in his first season with LA. While Gretzky never won a Stanley Cup in his time with the Kings he brought hockey to life in Southern California and had many memorable moments. The 1992-93 season saw Gretzky help the Kings to their first Stanley Cup Finals appearance in the franchise’s history while the following season saw him break Gordie Howe’s goal scoring record of 801 with his 802nd goal on March 23rd, 1994.
This image is autographed by Wayne Gretzky. Gretzky’s signature was witnessed by an Upper Deck representative as part of UDA’s 5-step authentication process.
